While it is still being written

Live files

The toolbar carries three controls for a file that is still growing:

  • Streaming — read new lines as they arrive. Click to pause.
  • Follow — stay pinned to the newest line. A window opened in follow mode goes straight to the end of the file.
  • Now — jump to the end once, without following.

Worth saying plainly

What LogRider does not do yet

  • Comparing files is not in this release. It is built and tested but switched off, because the way you picked the two files was not good enough to ship.
  • Folder comparison and three-way merge exist in the engine and have no interface yet. They are planned for 1.1.
  • LogRider is Mac only. No iPhone or iPad version.

Requirements

What it runs on

macOS 12.0 Monterey or later, on Apple silicon or Intel — the app ships as a universal binary.

Licence

Trial and licence keys

The 7-day trial is the complete app — nothing is held back and no feature is gated. When it ends, LogRider asks you to buy or to enter a licence key.

A licence key is tied to the email address it was issued to. Paste it into LogRider ▸ Enter Licence Key… along with that address. Validation happens entirely on your Mac: LogRider never contacts a server to check your licence, and a key keeps working offline and forever for the version you bought.

Lost your key? Reply to your purchase receipt.

Please include the file size you were working with and what you were doing — “a 4 GB nginx log, filtering to errors” is worth more than “it was slow”.

AI assistants

Using LogRider from an assistant

LogRider bundles an MCP server, so an assistant can search and read a multi-gigabyte log without pulling it into its context window — and a Claude skill that tells it how to use them well. It is read-only and you scope it to the directories you name. Setup and the seven tools.
